Patient Reported Outcomes (PROs)

Patient-reported outcome measures (PROs) are defined as standardized, validated questionnaires completed by patients to measure their perception of their perception of their functional well-being and health status (National Health Service, 2009).

The BEAD Core’s PROs service line works to incorporate the patient voice into research.

The BEAD Core’s PROs research support services include:

  • Epidemiological study design for PROs
  • Collecting PRO data
  • Selecting PRO measures
  • Analyzing, interpreting, and visualizing PRO data
  • Reporting PRO results
  • PRO specific training and education seminars

The PRO Service Line also provides consultation on the use of PROs in clinical practice, including guidance on selecting measures, administering them, reporting results to patients and clinicians, and interpreting the findings to inform management.
