Lisa Yanek, MPH
Lisa Yanek is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of General Internal Medicine, and Co-Director of the GeneSTAR Resarch Program, a longitudinal study of families with premature cardiovascular disease. Her background includes an undergraduate degree in health & society from Brown University and graduate education in epidemiology and biostatistics at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, with additional training in genetic epidemiology and statistics. She has curated the GeneSTAR databases and serves as the primary analyst for almost 20 years. She has also been involved in many community-based studies in Baltimore, focusing on interventions to reduce cardiovascular disease risk in African American populations. Her primary research interests include novel risk factors for incident coronary disease and the genetics of platelet function.
